At last – a video/DVD for children who use sign language with Makaton principles, Australasian style. Produced by Variety Tasmania, it features nursery rhymes presented by some of Australia’s most popular entertainers.

The Makaton Vocabulary language Program is a signing language specifically designed to help people who may have some difficulties communicating. Signs and symbols are matched to a special selection of works which we use every day. When they are combined with speech it helps people to understand speech more easily, to express their own ideas, and improves their communications skills.

Praise from around Australia greeted Variety Tasmania’s production designed for children with intellectual disabilities.  It was discovered that not only our special children but all children loved this presentation of their favourite nursery rhymes.

Now, in response to many requests from parents, this video of Action songs has been produced – designed for children who have difficulty with signing, but who can relate to simple actions.
