One of our most successful fundraising events is without doubt, the House of Hope.
The project originated from four Hobart businessmen, two of whom are our long time Bashers, Craig Robertson and Scott Crawford, joining with Andrew Lyden and Andrew Clifford.
It was their brainchild to build a house on the Eastern Shore of Hobart in 2007 with proceeds from its sale divided between two charities, Variety the Children’s Charity and the Rachel & Jye Fund.
Variety Tasmania worked directly with the Builder Andrew Lyden to bring suppliers and tradesmen on board to support the project and also put together a media strategy with the support of television, newspaper and radio. It was an outstanding success.
The house was built in just on seven months and was on the market less than four hours before selling within the buyer price range of $400,000. The new owners also pledged a further $50,000 donation to the two charities. The net result was an incredible $214,000.
